Wind and rain in Italy, unsettled northern Europe

Thursday
An active storm system over Italy brings gales to the western Mediterranean and southern France, perhaps also the Alps. Thundery showers for Italy. Persistent heavy rain affects western Greece and the southern Balkan states. Southerly winds affect eastern Europe, maintaining mild conditions.
A few showers for Portugal and southern Spain, although eastern Spain should stay dry and fairly warm. Largely dry for central France, although some rain moves into the north-west. Chilly winds for the Low Countries and Germany, bringing bands of wintry showers in from the North Sea. Some snow for the Alps. Patchy rain for Poland. Low pressure over Denmark produces rain for southern coastal parts of Scandinavia, but heavy snow for central Norway and Sweden. The far north stays dry and very cold.

Friday
Cloud and rain affecting the northern half of Spain and Portugal on Friday. Southern areas should be drier and brighter. Fair for the north of Italy but some rain in the south. More cloud and showers affecting Greece and Turkey.
Cloud and rain for the north and west of France, this moving into the Low Countries. Germany and Poland should be dry and brighter with good spells of sunshine. The fair weather persists through Switzerland and Austria as well as Hungary.
Sunny spells and dry for Denmark. Cloud and a few showers for Sweden as more persistent rain, slet and snow clears east through the Baltic States and Finland. Norway will have some snow showers, these heavy in the weest.
